chris nolte
Co-founder and CEO of Bloom, Chris is a well-known figure in the e-bike community, Nolte is a trusted voice for safety and quality in mobility commerce, and has played a major role in setting industry standards for the burgeoning market of micromobility. His passion for e-bikes is both principled and personal. After suffering a back injury on a tour of duty in Iraq, Nolte returned home as a disabled combat veteran. Looking to re-engage his active lifestyle, he built his first electric bike, and soon realized the implications of the technology’s power to transform personal transportation and lessen U.S. dependence on foreign oil. In 2011, Nolte founded Long Island Electric Bikes, which over the course of a decade grew into Propel, one of the nation’s leading e-bike retailers. In 2023, he became the CEO of Bloom, bringing his problem-solving skills to manufacturing, assembly and shipping logistics that promise to centralize and streamline the light electric vehicle industry as it matures into a sustainable and dependable form of mass transportation.
justin kosmides
Co-founder and President of Bloom, Justin is a former investment banker, Kosmides fell in love with e-biking while living in Brooklyn and became an early adopter, eventually going carless when he moved to LA. Today, Kosmides is a passionate advocate for approachability and broader inclusion in today’s micromobility market. In 2020, he came on board as CEO of Vela, a Sao Paulo-based manufacturer of high-design e-bikes, with an interest in bringing the brand to North America. Navigating the supply chain issues that followed the Covid-19 pandemic led Kosmides to realize the importance of building reliable supply lines for his products, and in 2022 Vela moved its primary manufacturing hub from China to Detroit, Michigan. Working alongside other mobility companies as a member of the Brooklyn Newlab startup community led Kosmides to realize the necessity of collaborating together to solve bottleneck challenges and meet demand. In 2023, spurred by the Newlab design incubator at Michigan Central, he partnered with Chris Nolte of Propel Bikes to found Bloom, a vertical integration partner that seeks to optimize logistics from manufacturing through delivery, collaborating with other companies to spur domestic production and raise industry standards.
